A large naturist holiday village and campsite on Calabria's Ionian coast, with direct access to the beach, tree-shaded pitches and a wide range of services
Overlooking the Ionian Sea directly, Pizzo Greco is a historic naturist campsite in Isola di Capo Rizzuto, founded in 1984 on a stretch of the Calabrian coast that has remained relatively wild. Rather than following the model of a modern resort, the site retains the character of a traditional campsite, with vegetation, internal paths and pitches of different sizes, some of which enjoy particularly scenic views over the sea. Those who prefer ready-made accommodation can instead choose from bungalows, cottages, caravans and mobile homes, with different options in terms of size and facilities.
The real distinguishing feature, however, is the naturist beach, which can be reached directly from the village via paths that follow the shape of the coastline and can be quite steep in some sections; an internal electric shuttle is also available to make getting around easier. The sandy beach, framed by a largely undeveloped stretch of coast, faces a sea that inevitably becomes the centre of daily life at the campsite, especially for those who choose Pizzo Greco precisely to spend most of the day outdoors and without needing to use a car.
The campsite offers toilets and showers with hot water, a market, bar, beach bar and restaurant, as well as sports facilities, coin-operated washing machines, bicycle rental and Wi-Fi. It should still be kept in mind that this is a long-established site with an intentionally simple character, making it more suitable for those looking for nature, sea and a genuine camping atmosphere than for those expecting the services and finishes of a new-generation holiday resort.
