A pebbly naturist beach along the Costa dei Trabocchi, featuring two hundred meters of public shoreline north of the Punta Le Morge trabocco.

What this place is like

Along the Costa dei Trabocchi, in the municipality of Torino di Sangro, Punta Le Morge offers an experience quite different from the classic sandy beaches of the Adriatic. The area dedicated to naturism covers about 200 meters of public shoreline, just north of the municipal trabocco of the same name, and is formed mainly of pebbles and light gravel, with the sea taking on particularly clear tones on calm days. Behind it, vegetation and reed beds help separate the beach from the Green Way and the more crowded areas of the coast, maintaining an intimate environment despite its proximity to the amenities of Le Morge.

Naturist practice is officially authorized and has a tradition that predates the very establishment of the area; the Abruzzese Naturist Association, which contributed to its recognition, also continues to organize monitoring, cleaning, and maintenance activities for the beach. During the summer season, the presence of volunteers helps maintain the proper naturist character of the place and is one of the elements that distinguish Punta Le Morge from many beaches where the practice occurs only by custom.

Access is relatively simple: parking lots, refreshment areas, and other services are located near the trabocco, and from there it takes just a few minutes on foot to reach the marked sector. Once inside the naturist area, however, there are no dedicated bathing establishments, so it is advisable to bring what you need and especially water shoes, useful both for walking on the pebbles and for entering the water.

In recent years, the real factor to take into consideration is coastal erosion; in fact, storms have progressively reduced the depth of the beach, and between late 2025 and early 2026, the phenomenon became particularly evident, so much so that in February 2026 the Municipality had to temporarily close access to the trabocco area after the sea had submerged part of the beach. Naturist activities have nonetheless resumed for the following season, but the space actually usable can be much narrower than the 200 meters officially designated, and entering the water may be less convenient after storms.
