A naturist river beach about one hundred meters long along the Sesia river, surrounded by woods and composed of sand, gravel, and stones.

What this place is like

Just north of Varallo, along the banks of the Sesia river, Balangera offers a naturist experience very different from classic seaside locations: a small river beach immersed in the greenery of Valsesia, enclosed by undergrowth behind it and a wooded bank on the opposite side of the river. The authorized sector extends for a total of about one hundred meters and alternates gravel, smooth stones, and small sandy or grassy areas, with trees providing natural shade during the hottest hours.

Balangera was officially designated for naturism by the Municipality of Varallo in 2019, following a process carried out together with A.N.ITA., and has become a reference point for naturist practice in Northern Italy. The intimate environment and the activity of volunteers have fostered over time a frequentation composed not only of singles and couples, but also of families, maintaining a philosophy linked above all to tranquility, socialization, and respect for the place.

To reach it, you can leave your car in the clearing in front of the former Igloo nightclub, in the Balangera locality, then follow for about 200 meters the path that crosses the meadow and leads to the access ladder to the river; it is important to stay on the already beaten path, because the surrounding land is also used for haymaking.

However, this is not an equipped beach: you need to bring water, food, and everything necessary to spend the day. The Sesia river is generally clear but very cold even in summer and swimming requires more caution than in the sea, because current and depth can change rapidly, especially after rains and thunderstorms upstream. Exactly this combination of mountain water, vegetation, and limited dimensions makes Balangera a special place, suitable above all for those seeking simple naturism immersed in nature.
